CATCHING UP IN BREVARD     The rest of our visit here was spent catching up with friends and eating in our favorite restaurants such as Moose Café! Also drove up to the Discovery Center where the first School of Forestry was located.  This has been one of my favorite places over the last 35 years.  Here we caught up with Howard and Linda who hosted with us at Cascade Lake and now are hosting at the Discovery Center.  So good to see them again and share lunch. THERE ARE BREWERIES …. AND THEN THERE ARE DESTINATIONS   Asheville area is full of breweries.  Many of them are micro breweries located in historical buildings in the Asheville area.  There are two breweries that are production breweries and they couldn’t be more different. Oscar Blues is a brewery.  It’s all about brewing.  Functional, situated at the back of an industrial park, small upstairs tap room with barely, if any, air conditioning and mis-matched picnic tables on the paved truck entrance with a food truck parked outside. Davidson River CG Pisgah National Forest July 10, 2015 Back in WNC and it hasn’t cooled off a bit!  On our way up with stayed in Walterboro, SC at New Green Acres RV Park who’s claim to fame is the longest pull through this side of the Mississippi and they are correct. This is a gem of a park just 30 miles from the I95/I26 interchange.  The pull throughs are very long, could fit our MH and the Mini along with two other cars lined up end to end.  It is also nestled among pine trees trimmed high so that…

Old Fashioned Family Vacation June 14, 2015   As you probably noticed, we have a new addition to the family this year – Queen V or Victoria Rose – so we’re hanging around the south for her first year.   When we were gearing up for our sailing excursions and I was reading every sailing article and blog out there, the one event that brought cruisers home was the birth of a grandchild.  Same with land cruisers!  My two grandsons are teenagers and I was around when Alex was little and now I’m back for Queen V’s first year.  …
